Quite by accident, I discovered some MX-5 racing on TV this morning, which I had never seen before. It was on Motorsport TV (on Virgin channel 545 if anyone is interested - presumably it is also on the SKY service).
What I found was coverage of a BRSCC series called the MX-5 Supercup, which surfing the Net informed me that this particular series is for NC cars only, and on this occasion the racing was from Silverstone.
Anyway, I’ll be checking out this particular channel again (and indeed the other sports channels at my disposal), to see if any more 5 series racing gets shown. As I said - a new one on me.
Watched it for a long time.
Damn good fun. In my opinion the Mk1s are the best fun…but I’m biased.
Normally, with a bit of “paint exchange” it all goes well enough.
There’s always the under lying potential, as in all motorsport, to go Pete Tong.
Thankfully, very rarely.

One of the things I miss about Coventry is the proximity to race tracks and the MX5 racing.
I used to watch and support ma5da, now BRSCC racing.
Having watched most types of car racing live I can honestly say it is the best. Agree that the packed track of MK1 cars was my preference. When I was last lucky enough to enjoy this about 7 years ago there were often 40 cars on track at the same time. Once saw four cars abreast all racing slide off the track on a corner.
If you want an excellent day out I cannot recommend it highly enough.
If you go to YouTube and put in 2018 BRSCC MX5 championship you will get the latest coverage of this years Mk1 championship starting with the first round at Brands earlier this year. Each meeting is uploaded about a month after the event. Proper close paint swapping action from start to finish.
The supercup is there too.
