Mx5 1.8L stage 1 remap

Hi, this is my first time posting anything but I thought I would add my news. I have had my 1.8L Nc stage 1 remapped and I’ve got to say how pleased I am with the results. My BHP has increased to 141 and the torque has also increased to 181 nm. On top of this my mpg is now just below 41mpg. I have had the car MOTd this week and there were no issues with emissions. The remap cost me £350 so I think this was really good value. Has anyone else had a 1.8 remapped and if so were you satisfied with the results?

Two years ago I had my NC1 1.8 remaped with a VersaTuner ECU tune. It was done by an MX-5 specialist ( MX5onderhoud.nl)in the Netherlands. They tweaked a template Versatune map until they think it’s perfect. They don’t sell numbers but say you can expect around +10hp and +15Nm. It’s not a huge increase but certainly notacible. The car runs and revs more smoothly and ‘feels’ a bit more enthousiastic. At a price of € 450 I am realy pleased with this tune.

I just traded in the NC1 for an NC3 and considering an Versatune ECU tune again.

Had mine done last year and have been very pleased with it.. noticeable torque increase supporting tolerant lower speeds in higher gears (urban) with capable pull, reducing gear changes. Loads of power in 3rd and cruising acceleration at upper end is great.

Mpg is decent on a run… managed 48mpg on a near 200mile run recently. That said its thirsty round town and when driving with a little more enthusiasm.. but that’s more on me. No idea if it’s pushing out the 140ish bhp suggested but its smoother and very “torquey” really capable.. so very happy..!!
