MX5 64 plate. Head unit & sat nav issue

  1. My model of MX-5 is: Sport. Venture Edition
  2. I’m based near: North West
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Head unit & Sat Nav issue.
  4. I bought the car 15 months ago, after 6 months the sat nav & the clock stopped working. Upon investigation I discovered that the micro SD card was missing from the head unit. Can I get a replacement sd card for the sat nav or is it worth the cost of a new head unit with dab as the radio is very poor. Any recommendations?

I believe you can get a new SD card, but an upgraded head unit with wireless Android Auto/Apple Carplay and DAB radio is a worthwhile investment. You’ll get a slightly larger and sharper display, the benefit of Google/Apple maps with the most up to date map data always available, DAB radio stations, apps and music from your phone such as Spotify etc. Plus you can add a reversing camera if you are so inclined and with the wiring kits available all the steering wheel controls will still work as well.

Check out Dynamic Sounds:

This unit doesn’t need an SD card for the original maps to work, only if the maps have been updated which as yours used to work I’d guess that they haven’t. Have you tried a battery disconnect, wait 5 mins and reconnect? That may bring it back to life.
