MX5 Battery Clamp

Hi All

I ordered a replacement battery for my 2002 MX5 recently to replace the original Panasonic unit that was in it. Unfortunately I wasnt aware of the gel/water differences and of the different dimensions. The one that I’ve received is a standard battery size and because of this the existing clamp wont hold it in place. Is it possible to buy clamps for after market batteries?

From what I’ve read afterwards though it could be possible to recondition the Panasonic battery, whats the best way of finding out if its beyond repair?

Thanks

The only way that I am aware of to recover these batteries is by a long slow charge with a battery conditioner/charger. CTek make one, and you can sometimes pick up a cheap version at Lidles.

I don’t think that the standard old fashioned voltage drop test as done by Quick Fit et al will work with the Panasonic battery.

Here’s a link to the CTek http://www.calamander.co.uk/batteryconditioners/ctek3600.htm
