I just bought a mk1 California limited edition. But the badge stating ???/300 is missing… How can I find out what number my car is and then how can I go about getting a new badge?
Thanks

I doubt you’ll get a new badge to be honest. They would have been made for MCL (Mazda’s then UK importer) back in the day. I’m not aware of a list of which VIN numbers had which edition number, I’m compiling a register of the UK specials for that reason, there’s a topic in this chat forum but you need to be an Owners Club member to view the register. There doesn’t seem to be any logic to the way the numbers were assigned to the cars.
pretty gutted… Why would anyone want to remove it??
If I could find out the number I could get a new badge laser cut I suppose
I’ve got number 013.
The badge is on the ash tray housing I believe - as they come out I’m guessing that’s how they get lost?
Try contacting previous owners of the car as they may be able to help.
Someone has pulled it off as there is a sticky mark where it should be
Ah. Then I guess you’re never going to find it.
Devalues the car by about £10, I reckon
Anyone have register of california mk1 eunos? One here with no badge. 1.8 import.
Have a look under the seats, one never knows what lurks under there. I bought my 2nd MX-5 and I found an item of clothing under the passenger seat, definitely belonged to a female. at some point.
The J-Limited II (or J2 Limited, Mazda’s own literature varies) were not numbered, nor had a badge. Should be on the door shut sticker.

Thank God you found “it” before the Mrs did.
