I have some Swedish friends visiting this year and would like to take them out and about - preferably with them in an MX5 as well. Does anyone know where I can arrange for them to hire an MX5 for a few days (preferably somewhere in East Anglia or close to Stansted airport)?
Sorry not helpful at all but a number of people have had a go at hiring out MX5’s and there was little demand for their services.
If none of the traditional car hire companies have MX5s in their fleets, it may be worth looking at peer-to-peer or carpool companies (e.g. Airbnb for cars, where individuals rent out their own cars to people). Â I think in London this is more popular because it saves people buying a car when they just need one every now and then.

Lend them yours then blag a test drive in a new model for a day or two (do they still do this at dealers?)
Unless they are present owners of an MX5 - why saddle them with somethin different? - You may be assuming they will like it, but if they aren’t used to one, then then they may also object - ask them first? If they say “Yes please” then fine, but if you can’t find one then you’ll have to explain that after.
Successful or not, always lead, and don’t overtake without making sure they have enough space to follow you, I’ve been in a couple of inter-area convoys where the local leaders are more used to local conditions, and pass slower traffic, only to leave some of us behind.
For any visitor, if following a native, then it’s bad enough becoming accustomed to driving on the wrong side of the road, without being presented with more problems!

Only place I’ve heard of renting out mx5’s is a company based up in the north of Scotland. Not sure of the name/web address, think it was in the Total MX5 magazine.Â
Thanks all for the responses. As Chillax noted, there is one place in Scotland that hires out an MX5 and that may work for my friends as they are heading there after visiting me.
