Fitting a 1.8 cockpit brace is possible, it uses additional bolts, and you need to cut the trim around your seatbelt towers. There was a thread recently about how to go about this, including measurements how to cut the trim for an OE look.
I don’t know if you still have all the necessary spacers and washers.
