Just in case anyone is interested there is a set of Mazda MX5 alloys as fitted to the 1991 BRG Limited edition currently on ebay
The advert is slightly wrong as advertised as “Special edition” (actually it was a “Limited Edition”) …and I believe technically they arnt BBS ? …but i am being a bit picky !.. probably because I used to own one
Anyway these don’t come up very often… if still had a mk1 BRG I would be making an offer !
Well spotted. They’re OZ wheels - manufactured in Italy, and often mistaken for BBS items. A bugger to clean - but they do look stunning on the LE, and these ones do look to have fared pretty well over 26 years. I hope they end up back on an LE.
Well had to do it … given rarity and difficulty in replacing an existing one (or more) if damaged beyond repair, or loss of a centre cap , I bought them. Arrived today and actually in better condition than described plus included a set of 6 month old Uniroyal Rainsport 3 tyres.
Wow. Good work - that one looks like it’s never been on a car. Expensive spares - but given their relative rarity, you probably won’t lose on them. Nice to know they’re ‘reunited’ with an LE.
Well I would love to know how you managed to get hold of these. I made an offer on eBay which was accepted as soon as I saw the linky. When I contacted the owner to make arrangements to collect he told me they had been stolen…odd eh??
Sorry EG … it was me , didn’t steal them as my offer was pretty close to asking price . Needed a spare set to compliment those on the car ‘just in case’ given rarity of those on the model.
OK well I guess I was gazumped! What really hacks me off is that the seller felt it necessary to spin me a long cock and bull story about being burgled, not being insured etc etc. I actually believed him and felt sorry for him. I should report the whole saga to eBay really but I honestly can’t be bothered. Frankly it makes you lose faith in your fellow human beings…
It’s against eBay rules to arrange a sale outside eBay and end the sale. They want their cut on each and every sale. To try and stop people dealing privately they make it very difficult to make contact in any other way than through eBay messaging which they can monitor. The usual reason people give to end an auction is that the item has been lost or damaged. Would seem strange to lose a set of wheels and if the seller said they had been damaged you would still have been interested in any undamaged ones. Saying they had been stolen would be the most believable explanation within eBay rules. Does sound like there was rather too much embellishment though.
