And SAZ99** passed, no advisories. That’s two years in a row. Not bad for a 282k km 30 year old car still on original factory bushes.
But its not all plain sailing.
Front oil seal leak. I know about this. Will likely leave it until the cambelt.
Rear pads a bit low, but the car only does 3000kms a year, so I’ll not change them in a cold garage.
Expansion tank was empty. The mechanic thought the top of the radiator was a bit wet and topped off the coolant. Only the car has Evans in it. Grr. I’m hoping its just a duff cap, not a new radiator. But if he’s put water it it, I’ll have to drain and replace the coolant.
Rust. No rust advisories, but one of the end plates now has a hole in it and the other isn’t far behind. And the “inner sill” (he meant the floor pan) isn’t looking to clever. Knew the lip was a bit flakey but hadn’t investigated further.
I’’ll have a proper poke around, after the car has sat in the garage drying out, take a wire wheel to it, and see how much metal remains. Hoping it’ll be just a patch up, Other side is rusty as well but no holes.
As expected the little hole got bigger, and I had a good view of the sill itselt. Above the inspection hole, the metal isn’t rusty inside. Below, its crusty. The sill itself is solid, and the new metal from 2017, once sealand and filler was taken off, was still shiny.
