it depends on where it’s leaking from really.
Generally speaking AC systems are not serviceable by anyone other than a specialist, mainly because you need specialist equipment to find the source of a leak if it’s not obvious, and the refrigerant gasses are also particularly nasty and shouldn’t be messed with unless you absolutely know what you’re doing.
If you’re sure it’s the compressor unit itself, where specifically on the unit?
If it were mine, I wouldn’t get involved with an AC system… They’re complex and expensive. Let a specialist look at it and point you in the right direction 
Get some AC goggles and UV light. Can see if there is any leaks from the compressor, pipes or from the condenser.
First of all, you can check if there is pressure within the system by hooking it up to a AC machine and via the high and low pressure pipes you will see pressure accordingly. Secondly, when you press the AC button, can you hear the compressor kicking in? Sometimes AC compressor clutches can fault. You can get a screwdriver and just press the needle in to check if the system has gas, but you shouldn’t do it that way…
My compressor is leaking dye from all around the center section. From my research so far, best option is a new one from Mazda(no idea on cost). Also, best get the later compressor from a 94/5 model which basically have newer bearing so will freewheel lighter; less strain on engine. There used to be seal kit to rebuild but cannot find one. The Aliexpress one is another interesting option. But, would be best to see actual customer’s opinions before purchase. Anyone on here used one?
