Mx5 nc 1.8 track day build help

hi i have just brought a cheap nc1.8 for a track day car but undecided on engine
will be a 1.8 bbr 170 kit or should i hang out for a 2.0 or 2.5 or even a 13b rotary
this will only be a track car,the rest i have a plan max bhp i need is 200 so 1.8 wont be to far off

Welcome to the group and MX-5 ownership.

To get the most out of trackday’s I’d aim for reliability above all else, see how the car goes as standard and then work on mods from there. If I had any money left after basic safety upgrades, seat, belts, steering wheel and cage, improving the brakes then suspension to my liking I’d start worrying about the engine.

If I was aiming for 200hp I’d look at how that might be achieved with normal aspiration.

Aside from the stupid amounts of noise, went to too many saloon car and Group C races where rotaries were present in the 80’s, not sure why any one would want to run a rotary except maybe novelty.

Wishing you many smiles per mile.

thanks safty all sorted the rotary is a faily cheap way of getting 250hhp and loves to be reved but thats latter will keep the 1.8 up it to 170hp and see what its like
