Good grief! Had no idea Burton were still active.
I bought an immaculate show-standard maroon Capri 2.8i back in the 80’s from an RAF engineer which had been “Burtoned”. 2.9 litres of utter grunt but it also had the Scorpion handling kit, and Tarox roters etc, plus a Sierra gearbox. It looked as OEM…no clues to it’s abilities…apart from SS headers and mid pipes from Mike the Pipe. Around 220 BHP plus he reckoned. Beautifully engineered nose to tail.
It ate rears The epic torque ripped out the centre treads in 6000/8000 miles. It was probably the best stealth car I ever had especially when some plonk in a front engined Porker came up behind…
18/20mpg. I cared not a whit. And the noise…oh those exhausts!
Then our son was born…it had to go.
Interesting, checking the Burton website the 2.5 Duratec engine looks remarkably similar to
the 2.5 engine transplants that Paul Roddison uses. (Roddison Motorsport S9 1US)
Perhaps if Paul sees this post he will confirm matters.
