MX5 NC2 Coolant hose Surface Cracked?

  1. My model of MX-5 is: MX-5 NC2 Sport Tech PRHT
  2. I’m based near: West Midlands
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Coolant hose that runs along the side of the battery held by the battery cover looks cracked?

I think it’s because the battery cover clip in the photo has been squeezing the hose too hard, so I’ve left it resting on top of the clip. I’m not sure how serious this is. Has anyone else encountered this?

Are you sure that’s cracked? It looks a bit like glue residue from either a sticker or some tape that has long since fallen off. Have you tried running your finger nail over it to see if it comes off?

Thank you for your reply. I’ve rubbed my nail over it and it feels like light scratches. It doesn’t seem to be coming off.

It’s not in my opinion.

As above I would bet it’s dried hard glue where the protective rubber sleeve is and has moved.

Try some white spirit with a nail brush or similar and it should remove it.

Agree that looks like something on the surface rather than a break down of the hose itself.
