Has anyone used MX5 Specialist in Doncaster. I have had some work done by them over three weeks ago and i cannot get him to give me an invoice for the work ( which I need for my agreed value on my classic car insurance ).I am going to see him again in the morning for another try. I am not holding my breath.
Hi,
I’ve got mine booked into there early next year to get my front chasing rails done, let me know how you get on before I spend a fortune with him.
What was the quality of the work like that you had done.
Cheers
Michael
I emailed Steve several times a while back trying to buy a car off him, but never received a reply.
If your’e referring to MX5 Motors in Carcroft, then this has surprised me.
I emailed him last year to enquire about waxoiling, and he came back to be promptly.
I still need to think about booking it in though
Surprised me too. I’d read a lot of good things about him, but there you go. I got sorted out elsewhere.
Let’s have some clarification and follow up for this. There are more than one mx5 specialists in Doncaster. A guys reputation is at risk here.
I second that. I’ve been planning to use MX5 City in Doncaster for any major jobs that come up. I trust this isn’t the “Doncaster specialist” you are referring to.
Two points
- Let’s be abundantly clear about this. The guy Steve at MX5 Motors didn’t reply to my emails. That is not in any shape or form a judgement of his character or his reputation. It is a statement of fact. I have no idea why, maybe he was too busy, away on holiday or my emails were bounced into his spam folder. Who knows?
- I purchased a car from MX5City and I found Martin excellent to deal with and his communication via email and phone were spot on. That is also a factual statement.
I am in a position to recommend MX5City and have no opinion whatsoever about MX5Motors.
Other opinions and MX5 specialists are available
Sorry but this thread is so typical of forum threads everywhere.
I emailed a trader, they didn’t respond therefore they must be useless. Yes I am aware of the post above this one.
It is endemic across forums. I receive emails at all times of day, most "sent from my i-whatever I have in my pocket while I am down the pub, why haven’t you responded immediately-phone.
The rate at which these build up, along with the inevitable spam is ridiculous and is a barrier to actually doing the work that customers want.
Phone people, it’s quicker for them and for you. If they don’t answer, leave a message or send a text. It is much better than email.
Well said Nick apart from the words ‘or send a text’. Most texts get delivered quickly but sometimes they can take days to find their way to the recipient. Might never get through and you have no way of knowing if it has ever been delivered. If you like using e-mail then use it but if you don’t get a response within the time you require then give them a call. If it’s somebody like Nick then he will probably answer and have a chat with you at the same time as he’s fitting some of his excellent tyres at bargain prices to somebody’s motor. He can’t do that with an e-mail.
At which point did I or anyone, other than you, make the connection between not responding to emails and being useless? You speak of typicality. What is typical of online forums is for someone to add words or implications to a simple post as you have done.
Please do not put words into my mouth even if you do acknowledge my second statement.
That is my final word on this non-subject.
I do not think there is a problem, Steve could have been on holiday.
I would be quietly re assured by the fact he did not demand money on collection, he obviously has confidence in the work he has done, and trusts you as a customer to pay him promptly when he submits his invoice.
I last dealt with Steve when he worked elsewhere, he was sound at that time.
I have a similar situation here in Sheffield, Roddison Motorsport have just fitted new springs to my wifes car, I have been dealing with Paul long enough to know he will charge me a fair price so I did not ask for a cost up front, once his purchase invoice for the parts fitted comes in, he will give me a cost and I will pay him.(well she will !!!)
I did put words in your mouth, I am commenting on the inevitable train of comments that come the minute anyone posts that they have the slightest problem with a trader.
However since you have had you final word on this, I’ll make it mine.
