never used them myself as i “self service” but a recommended place is Lodge Garage - Arthur st - redditch. a pal used them a lot for his mx5 & liked them.
someone will be along soon with suggestions.
Oh, & welcome to the forum.
Welcome to the addiction, I’d love to see some pics of your car.
Sam Goodwin at Nuneaton has been refurbishing / selling and every job you can think of on MX 5’ s for more year than I can remember. I bought a mk 1 off him about 4 weeks ago and a heater hose has burst, the car came with 3 months warranty so the next day I telephoned him. His response was the car is under warranty we will come and repair it !! I am at least 80 miles from his place, shows the guys reputation has been well earned. I would give him a ring and ask his advice he is very helpful and enthusiastic
Another vote for Sam Goodwin here…
Hi Welcome to the FUN
Hi Welcome to the FUN
Hello and welcome, what do you need doing. An independent garage here in Malvern loves 5’s.
Hi Thanks for the advice, I have also found a place in Stourbridge, C1-R Limited, anyone have any knowledge of them. The couple of issues I have are not too serious, the rocker gasket has a small leek, but thought it would be worth changing the cambelt at the same time, also the ABS light is coming on intermitantly, which I believe is a common problem.
well blow me down wiv a fevver!
always wondered where they were.
lived in stourbridge 37 years & never been in that trading estate.
good reputation from couple of folk i know.
Just a quick update to my original post recommending Sam Goodwin, yesterday Sam and mechanic Steve drove to my house from Nuneaton about 80 miles each way. They soon started removing the split heater hose, what I didn’t realise was that they had brought both new heater hoses ( OEM )along to replace ( makes sense you say but not everyone would have ) they then rounded brass ferrules to ensure no leaks. Fitted new hoses, filled her with antifreeze ran the engine for a while Steve kept taking a heater hose off to bleed system then satisfied that all was good off they went. About an hour in total ( cups of tea and cake of course ) job well done and they off on journey home, I know from past experience that not all garages are this good. When I spoke with Sam he said " I gave you 3 months warranty and I honour it, we wanted to fit new hoses ourselves as if I had taken it local they may not done the job correctly and he did not want any further problems to arise, as I said before top man Sam.
Thanks all for the advice, will sort out some pics and post, I will look visit CR-1 and see what they say, Sam Goodwin sounds good but may be a bit far to be practical. I have also been told that there is a place in Bromsgrove that know their stuff, but do not have any details yet, hopefully will find out this week end. I can not get the work done yet as I am recovering from an op and being self employed, no money coming in until back at work.
Hi, new to Malvern. My Mk2 is in need of a service and some tlc. A garage that loves 5’s sounds perfect… would you share their details?
