Hello ,
I am a member of Bristol Motor Club. The club is mulling over having an MX5 only class at the various sprint events they do next year. They are also mulling over an mx5 only championship across various events such as hilll climbs, sprint and autosolos.
The sprints are
21st March at Castle Combe (1.75 laps) Organised by Bristol Motor Club
25th July at Castle Combe (0.75 laps).Organised by Bristol Motor Club
Llandow in May , the date isn’t set. Organised by Bristol Motor Club and Bristol Pegasus Motor club.
the chamopionship idea is currently just an idea.
they are probably going to stick to roadgoing rules but it should , here is a quote from my mate on the committee
“We’re not sure where the line will be for modifications - suggestions gratefully received. I’d like to think it’ll simply be the same as Roadgoing as this just accomodates the popular cars that fall unfortunately on our class structure. However, if this is an entry level class, then limited modifications seems sensible. The down side of that means not all cars will be eligible as most are modified in some manner. There’s no plans to separate 1600cc and 1800cc cars - the 1600cc cars can go in either the MX5 class or the main <1800cc class”
This is all the info I have at the mo, expressions of interest and suggestions greatly received , the more we get the more likely it will happen.
Moderator question can I cross post this inn the South West forum ? (not sure what the rules are )
HSA do a MX5 only class and as I recall they are aninvited club to your events aren’t they? Might be a thought to align to their regs then people like me can join in both clubs ![]()
good idea , do you have any contacts at HSA or are they on the website ?
just realised Paul Parker (British Sprint championship co-ordinator) is a member of Bristol Motor Club so hopefully alignment will be done
I’ll be up for this. Sound great! If it hasn’t already been done, it may be worth posting this on Nutz as their quite motorsport orientated.
As well as the MX5 only class in the BMC sprints we are also looking at an multi discipline championship covering sprints, autosolo and autotest.
If you are interested in the MX5 only sprints and/or the championship please fill on the web form on the BMC website at the following address

Great Western Sprint at Castle Combe on 21st March 2015.
so first round done, I managed 4th, was hoping for better, but the rain and a cone dropped me down (good practice for excuses though !).
here are some photos of the day which was great overall even though some teething problems with the venue caused a bit of a delay leading to 9 runs instead of 12.
