Good evening
I have just bought a 2002 1.8 Trilogy edition which I love but after a little research I have found there was only 333 which mine is 197 I bought it to modify but not sure where to keep it standard as there are not many left?
Nice looking. I saw one of those for sale today
I wouldn’t worry too much about keeping it standard, just enjoy it however you like.
Did you get the diamond keyring?
I sympathize with your dilemma.
I have a Anniversary MX-5. There are only 1000 of them worldwide with 100 in the UK.
I had every intention of “keeping her standard” but here I am having added a Mazda’s body kit, changed the steering wheel, added welcome lights and fitted a sport exhaust back box. (I fitted that on the day I brought her home from the showroom).
The journey might not be over yet, I still have Eibach springs that will fit her stored in my garage.
I guess my point is, is she still a Anniversary MX-5:Yes. Is she still specail: Absolutely.
Another good question to ask would be who benefits from not modifying her if you don’t?
You’ve raised an interesting conundrum that many will face.
Do we have a responsibilty to keep and preserve these vehicles or enjoy them whilst in our care?
I found myself debating a similar idea recently when I saw a beautiful, low mileage icon for sale on here.
I’d love to own something like that but without somewhere dry to store it I know it would simply deteriorate. This seemed a massive shame given how much care the previous owner has taken.
In my personal situation I reasoned that allowing someone in a better position to keep and enjoy it was the fair and sensible path.
I’ll stick to my ratty, tatty example and lavish all of my attention on her.
How about the less visible mods that enhance performance?
Better suspension and definitely a geometry set-up, best possible tyres will together make it feel brilliant.
I now have a Mk 3.5 modified slightly but my Mk 2.5 Sport had the best steering feel of any car I’ve driven.
