Sorry Mad_Malc l missed this comment in answer l made the mounting frame and modified the motor carrier for my RX~8 now sold l did the same but adapted the mounting frame and number plate carrier to fit the section l had cut away from the front grill….
I saw that reg. in London on a Rolls Royce a few years back… “CLA 55”
If I remember correctly, Jimmy Tarbuck used to have ‘COM1C’ on his Rolls Royce.
My private plate has my initials (CR), the year of my birth (54), followed by MXS - the nearest I could get to MX5 under UK rules.
Paul Daniels MAG1C.
You’ll like that one, not a lot, but you will like it.
Very talented magician
Saw that plate on a BRG Bentley in Carmarthen many years ago. Paul and Debbie got out and walked down the street
I wonder if that is the BRG Bentley parked next to the Ferrari in the picture .
The storey goes that he bought the Ferrari with the plate already on it. The guy selling it got fed up with people asking him if he was Paul Daniels .
Paul would never say how much he paid for it.
“Not a lot” probably
No Idea Why This Topic Desires My Attention as Not Posted !
But Here Goes:
Recall as Serving Police [1978-81] in Peterborough
Word on the Grapevine Was to Respect a Number Plate [Memory?]
" 1 N U" [One On You]
Belonging to Boxer Joe Bugner [Local Hero]
I’ve Only Splashed Out Once on a Personal Number Plate

So Went With My Initials/Favourite Number/ & Year of Manufacture on a Showroom Purchased Ford Mondeo Estate in 1996
Weirdly What Happened For Me at That Time With a Personalized Number Plate
Is I Felt I’d Lost My Privacy and Sense of Anonymous [Spelling]
So Was Very Relieved When I Sold it and Now Just Have a Non MX-5 and Non Personal Plate
Ooops
Just Remembered Another Reason Why I Now Prefer an Anonymous Plate !
My Oldest Friend [45 Years Next Month] and I Used to Date [1978 ish]
He Had a Personal Plate ‘96 PX’ on a Cortina 1600E [Which From Memory He Transferred from a Hillman Imp (?)]
Trouble Was We Were Both Serving Cops at the Time and I’d Get Ribbed By Colleagues
“Oh We Saw 96 PX Parked Outside Your Place Overnight Again”
I was Young and Raised Catholic so You Can Imagine My Embarrassment
But There Are Some Seriously Cool MX-5 and Personal Plates on This Thread
My wife bought me this for a 25th wedding anniversary present.
My daughter and wife were ‘looking’ for themselves but were really trying over several months to get me to say what I’d have, if I could choose one.
It’s the correct year for the car, and the 7 looks like my initial J and POR are the first three letters of my surname. Apparently, POR is slightly more expensive due to Porsche owners wanting them.
The best bit is that most people don’t know it’s personalised. It’s weird, I really wanted one but didn’t want anyone to know it was anything special to me.
JP
It doesn’t say MX-5 on the plate. But it does say fun which is pretty much the same thing.
Thanks… it does stand out rather well
Was never arsed about private plates, but saw this when bored at Christmas, my wife told me if I didn’t buy it she would somehow I still ended up paying for it!
I have RC06 MAZ on retention. Used to be on a Mazda 6 but the initials and year of birth are right for my youngest daughter, so I’ll probably give it to her. If she buys a Mazda!
For “modern classics” I prefer the original reg.
Walking down the road where I live the other night and a red NC with the plate EU54NOS went by.
