My 1st sports car

Sooo, at the grand age of 60, ive finally bought a sports car with my late father’s inheritance money.
But ive gone a bit mad in his honour. Got a 100k mile NC 3 PRHT which is currently in the capable hands of Bruce at Rocketeer for the full monty treatment…engine, suspension, brakes and interior.
No idea when it will be ready but probably March(ish) next year.
Will be one of their 1st NC conversions and having driven their NA demonstrator i cannot wait.

Welcome aboard Dave.
That’s a very exciting introduction you made.
Very eager (probably not as eager as you though) to hear how everything turns out. Please keep us updated.

Must be something about turning 60 but that’s exactly what I did. The only difference is that mine is down at BBR GTI.

You are never too old for an MX5, you can even open the roof to aid getting in and out when things get really creaky

Congratulations, talk about jumping in with both feet :sunglasses: Thought many times about going the Rocketeer route, but think that might have to wait until I buy a second NBFL :sunglasses::+1:

Never took old mate , you’ll have it in time for the spring , enjoy

My 5 was bought at 60 - Great time to start. ENJOOOOOY

That’s me - not the car or its mileage - just like to make these things clear

That sounds cool, do you know what kind of output you’ll be getting from the engine conversion? They look very very smart ! I got my first MX5 last year (at 53), it’s a BBR stage 2 turbo and an awful lot of fun. Done about 6k miles since I bought it and most of that has been top down and lots of smiles.
Enjoy !

I’m assured it will be a min of 300hp possibly a smidge more and circa 250ft/lbs (i think, can’t remember the torque figures).
If it only had 100hp id still buy it for that noise !!
It will be a hoot to drive.

I am green with envy! My MX-5 has always been my daily driver so at 24 miles each way to work I put on some significant miles over the years. Now I am far too old to go to work but never too old to drive my (NC3 PRHT) MX-5!

ive got a few years left before full retirement (down to 4 days next year) but intend dailying this for work to get the max use out of it.
As long as can still stand up after rolling out of it i’ll be using it
