My recent 65th birthday present from my good lady.
My initials, my year of birth, followed by MXS - the āSā looks near enough to a ā5ā for me.Ā Bought from the DVLA web site for Ā£250.00 all in.

Nice gift - enjoy. Ā I have one on both my cars so I never forget my reg and also itās easier to spot in a car park.Ā
Yes, itās the forgetting of reg. numbers that can be a problem as we get older. My wife and I would always make up little mnemonics for our various cars - our recent VW Scirocco was always āNorma Jean 65 Deep Husky Voiceā ! OK, so I realise that Norma Jean (Baker) - Marilyn Monroe - didnāt have a āDeep Husky Voiceā, but the Aide Memoire always worked well enough.
Now, I canāt possibly forget my initials and the year I was born, can I ?
Nice.Ā
Similar story for me, thoā it was for my 50th that my beloved bought me my Launch Edition.Ā
I was wondering how she was going to top that for my 60th at the start of December and she didnāt disappoint with a nice āPepsiā Rolex.Ā
You got the whole car ?Ā Lovely - I just got the private reg. no. !Ā But I did have the car already !Ā
I have a personal plate on mine - an homage to one of my favourite 60s sports racers (Lola T70) . combined with my initials . I had the model number (R400) on my last Seven and the rather naff K5 FUN on my first Seven (not my choice, ex factory demo car) .
But , as said , the older one gets the harder it is to recall the reg no of daily drivers. Mineās got '15 and a āPā in it and after that I struggle . But I do remember the reg of dadās Triumph Vitesse I wrote off in 1972 - PCP 144K - and my beloved Clan Crusader from 1977 - OPT 440J .
Happy Birthday to you!Ā Happy Birthday to you!Ā Happy Birthday dear CP54 MXS !Ā Happy Birthday to you!
Ā
PS: Both mine are āpersonalisedā, see below.Ā Why not?Ā Weāre not getting any younger!Ā Have a great day Chris!
Happy Birthday Chris. Nice plate,It will be easier to spot next time Iām in FromeĀ
Belated birthday wishes to you.
Having recently turned 65 myself and after considering a purchase for many years and having read, listened to and watched just about every review on the car, I have now made the firm decision to buy a MX 5 Sports Tech 2011, but, a question to those of you in the know.
At 6ā2" will I fit ? Several reviews reckon the 3rd Gen gives slightly more room for the taller driver / passenger. Clarkson reckons he fits in one OK. Can anyone confirm, that I will indeed fit in one.
Thank you in advance of any replies.
If the car has adjustable height seats and adjustable steering column, then yes for a 6ā2" driver with normal proportions. Passenger is not so much a problem because there is no steering wheel in the way of the knees.
Check the car has the seat and steering wheel adjustments, not all do.
Many thanks for the comments. Much appreciated.
Gosh, only 3 years to go until my 65th. Cannot wait for my shiny new MX5š¤
Happy belated Birthday
So In an attempt to stop me from my handyman activities and save my aging 64 year old body my beloved bought me this one for my 64th Birthday
She knew I would have to stop working as I cant get many tools in the boot. Iāve now put my personal plate on it (P1HJB) so wave if you ever see a grey haired bloke in it around Bognor Regis
