Sport Black is the special edition model, released in Green, Red, White and strangely not in Black…
At the time the Black refered to the roof as it was the first time the car had been released with a black folding Hard top on a car that wasn’t Black

The Sport Black is based on a standard 2.0 litre MX-5 Sport Tech Roadster Coupe. Only 500 units were made and would retail at £22,995.00 to buy new in the UK
This special version was finished in either Crystal White, Spirited Green or Velocity Red and sported a wide range of unique features including 17" gun metal alloy wheels, alloy pedals, stainless steel scuff plates and ‘Black Edition’ badges and floor mats.
Further enhancements included black front grille and fog lamp surrounds. The power roof, electric mirrors, style bar covers, dash panel and steering wheel controls were all painted Brilliant Black.
The interior was upholstered in luxurious black leather with matching steering wheel and handbrake lever.

Quality … I remember there was one new in the showroom when we bought our 1st MX5 a 20th Anniv. Thought it looked stunning then so we looked for one 12 months ago when we changed her but they are just so rare. Ended up with a velocity red Kuro instead, which is much the same as the velocity red sport black, just a grey leather interior and some side stripes. TBH I prefer the grey interior over the black but given a straight choice I’d probably have gone green!
