Mystery trim piece on the floor

I have a MX5 NC2 Mk3.5.

This morning found a bit of plastic trim from somewhere lying on in the passenger footwell. See pics.

I am not even sure it belongs to the car? - because for the life of me cannot seem to find where it might go. - and now I have a sore neck!

Anyone have any ideas, or is it not even a Mazda bit?
