NA 1.6 Idle Adjustment Screw

  1. My model of MX-5 is: 1993 NA6CE-2
  2. I’m based in: Yorkshire
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: The idle adjustment screw.

Hello,

Does anyone know whether it’s still possible to get one of these grommets/covers for the idle adjustment screw ? I’m missing mine and I’ve noticed a bit of dirt getting in there every now and then.

Had a look around but can’t seem to find them anywhere.

I’ve attached a picture below (not mine) for clarity. Thanks.

I would say the only place you will find one of these is off another MK1 throttle body. All MK1/Eunos cars 1.6 an 1.8 had base idle adjustment and would have been fitted with these.
I wouldn’t worry about it from a functional point of view. If it bothers you cosmetically, just find a suitable rubber bung only to block the hole.

Its those little missing items that can grind in a OCD kind of way , I get it, it should be there and its not.
Contact a good honest breaker like Autolinkmx5 or north yorkshiremx5’s.

The part number is B551-13-104 CAP,BLIND

Some sources say this is discontinued, but it was fitted to a number of Mazda engines, so might be worth trying the dealer. The same engine, essentially, was also used by Kia.

From a functional point of view (stopping dirt), I’m sure a black rubber stopper will work.

Thanks for all the responses, appreciate the additional information :+1:
