Hi, first time post and new member. Both my front wings of my MX-5 MK1 are rusted at the bottom to the point of having holes in them. Fortunately it’s just the wings and not beyond. I was looking at replacing them with these from car van bits. Does anyone have any thoughts? Should I get the original ones repaired or replace them with these?? Also has anyone used this company before?
Website says they are out of stock so that might change things. Are they an aftermarket part? If you can afford it I would definitely recommend buying genuine Mazda parts as they will be a better quality metal and a better fit. The money you save buying aftermarket wings could be lost in paying the body shop for the extra time to fit them.
If they aren’t too bad I think I would repair the originals. Can you post a photo to give us an idea of the damage?
Mx5parts have genuine wings for £177 which is a far bit more money but worth considering
When I biffed my NA back in 2011, it was repaired with genuine Mazda wings. These have all but rotted out at the bottom, held together by fiberglass and spit. I’ve seen lower wing repair sections for sale, but I’m not sure of the financial viability of these (£50 each, and they need welding) versus a £100 bolt on pattern wing. From what I understand, talking to people who know about these things, these pattern wings have been made from worn tooling, and are a pretty good fit.
Anyone order stuff from Alibaba?
£7 a wing……..if you order 10 of them (plus shipping from Taiwan). LOL
