Hi all,

Was qondering if anyone had a good simple guide or link to one to add a turbo to a mk2 1600.

Its a project i want to have a go at so any help or advise would be great guys and girls.

Anyone used a gt2860rs turbo on a 1.6?

I’m using a gt2554r on my 1.6 auto. It’s 178bhp /185lbft on a hub dyno. That’s about all the 1.6 diff can take. I Wanted a quick spool so picked a ball bearing design. A helpful article for planning which parts to upgrade is How to keep your Turbo Mazda MX-5 Alive | BOFI Racing I would recommend a boundary stage 2 oil pump to keep your bearings healthy. But the first thing you should do is a compression test.

Compression across all 4 cylinders is solid. Did that when we serviced it after we bought it.
Was looking at the different kits but with a sensible price turbo…some are beyond a budget fun build lol :slight_smile:
May need to keep an eye on the club forums and facebook etc for parts and start collecting bits.
