- My model of MX-5 is: NB MK2.5
- I’m based near: Northwich
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: The seal on my 3rd brake light has perished and is letting in water. The part is no longer available (it is available for the MK1 but unfortunately they aren’t the same), has anyone found a suitable alternative that works, foam weatherstripping for example?
I’ve ordered a strip of 10mm x 10mm foam rubber to see if I can fashion a gasket with it. If that doesn’t work I’ll try the sealant you suggested.
Just to update, I’ve fitted the 10mm x 10mm neoprene rubber strip I bought from Amazon. Just had to cut it to length, didn’t require glue as it fits snuggly in the channel that goes around the light. Just hose tested it and it is dry as a bone ![]()
This is what the old seal looked like, it has gone all hard and cracked.
Awesome! Was looking for a solution to this problem and came across this. Thanks
