Hi, my NB’s alarm goes off sometimes when I unlock the drivers door, if I turn the key to and fro a couple more times it usually stops. I had thought it was after I’d locked the passenger side instead and it was getting a bit confused, but this isn’t consistently the cause. It doesn’t go off every time but it getting more often.
Any ideas? is the immobiliser on its way out maybe? I don’t want to get stuck unable to unlock my car one day when I’m miles from home!

It’s probably the small switch on the back of the lock barrel playing up. It might just need a clean, or to be clipped back into place, but it’s so fiddly to get to that you may as well get a replacement. They come up second hand on ebay, or from one of the breakers.
(UK Driver’s side has a red cable; passenger side is yellow, and boot is black - they aren’t interchangeable.)
