Hi all. I’m a first time owner of an MX-5 and already loving it. Picked up my 2004 Euphonic edition last Friday. Already had a cobalt exhaust fitted and I then fitted the cobalt cold air induction kit. Sounds much nicer when run above 5000 revs.

did you get the full cobalt system or just the backbox?
It was just the backbox for now. Need to keep some money back to sort out chassis rails and general rust under the car. Sills and wheel arches are all good. 
The backbox does sound good without being over the top.

I heard it this evening, a very nice smooth deep sound, not loud enough to upset the neighbours, but still reassuring…
Yep that’s a good way to describe it. It does get louder once you go high revs, but when you keep it low and put the gas on it is nice and deep. Pair it with the induction and you get a nice roar.
Was great to meet you tonight Richard, and thank you for having a look over the car to see if any issues stand out. Good to know I didn’t end up getting a bad MX-5. Look forward to seeing you again at the pub meet and seeing your car out on the road.
