I just got all the components to install BBR ITBs on my 98 NB. I had a new MS3 mini that did not come with the kit, but was meant to fit an NB 1.8. Where should I start with the tuning? Is there anyway to get a bad line tuning programmed so at least I can move it at first? Is there anyone that might be able to tune it remotely?
A quick google search found this https://www.megasquirt.co.uk/tuning/

A base NB tune should work fine…just change the accel enrichment to mostly TPS based instead of MAP based. In reality your first area of focus should always be the VE table after you get it started. You will laugh, but AI is helpful in this regard, chat GPT helped me dial in my accel enrichment a lot. You just need to specify the exact setup…make sure it realizes you are running ITBs instead of a single throttle plate manifold. You will need a decent VE table first though or you will be chasing your tail
That’s a good starting point! Thanks!
For reference, I too am running a MS3, though mine is a PNP MS3 Pro from AMP EFI. I can always send you a base tune that should get the engine started(though you may have to adjust the required fuel based on your injector size and with ITBs you will certainly need to change your accel enrichment to TPS(alpha-N) or some blended TPS/MAP if you come up with a decent common “manifold” solution similar to this box I made on my v6 ITB). The idea here is this waterproof box will hold vacuum. I drilled one hole for each port on the engine, and this became a common “manifold” I could pull a vacuum signal from…unlike most ITB setups, this box has enough volume that it works ok for the purpose. What you can’t see here is that inside the box I have a check valve of 5 of the 6 ports leading from the ITBs…this makes it so the box gets the vacuum from those 6 ITBs without getting the recursion pulse when all those throttle plates slam shut…in effect, it simulates a vacuum signal from a single throttle plate engine. Still a weaker vacuum signal, but enough to run a power brake booster if needed(the funny thing is this car has manual brakes). More importantly it provides a good vacuum signal to MS3(this car also runs on MS3)
Nice setup! I like that idea of the vacuum box. I believe the BBR kit comes with a small vac manifold to address this. If you don’t mind I would like your base tune just in case I even need it as a back-up. Thanks!
I’ll get you a copy later today, just message me your email address so I have somewhere to send the file.
