NB Orginal Clarion radio removal

I have a 1998 NB 1.8 mx5

The stock Clarion cd/casette radio ( cd changer in boot) was ok except the aerial did not work when I bought this a year ago.

The cd player worked but cd’s are almost gone these days. (?) and tapes -I threw out some while ago.

Saw videos on removing the radio and followed exactly -but it would not budge.

Guys at halfords had a go -they couldnt either - said the console would perhaps need to come out. -

However -I found carefully taking the plastic console surround off partially at the top (and sides partly}to get to where the clock section is - and then removing that bit - I could see the radio problem removal

The radio wouldnt budge -as the metal tabs on top part were raised up preventing it sliding out - guess this is added security? - so I was able to remove it by pushing them flat.  Anyone else have this problem- I did remove the console to fair amount - but it was just the top clock section to come out to access the problem.

bought a sony DSX A60 BT for usb music use and Bluetooth to receive iphone nav plus hands free call etc - the inbuilt mic - This works escellent against sugestions it may not work very well - this was with hood down too.

Hope this may help or maybe I was just lucky.

Must try and get the aerial out from boot to see why it wont raise. Would a short sutbby aerial work ?
