Okay cool, cheers Robbie. Do you know how I would go about diagnosing that?
I’d remove the electrical part from the back of the mechanical bit and open it up and check for burning at the contacts. There’s a few springs and copper bits in there so open it carefully so you can reassemble it if required.
Cheers, I’ll let you know how I get on!
Okay so no luck with the ignition switch. I took it all apart, no visible damaged / burns / melting. Tried staring it with a flat head the same issue persisted.
I sat in the car for a while, googling and scratching my head. Thought I’d give it one last try before I went back inside and BOOM! Fired up without hesitation.
…
But wouldn’t turn back on after I turned it off…
And then it did, like 4 times in a row…
And then nothing.
Now I’m thinking that it must be the starter motor or a bad ground.
I’m going to check and tidy all of the grounds next. If that doesnt fix it then I’m going to check voltage at the starter and give it a gentle wack… If that doesn’t work then I guess I’ll need to get a replacement.
Unless anyone has any idea on what else could be causing this issue. Any help appreciated as always
That ignition switch will come apart, it’s the contacts inside that burn.
Oh! Sorry Robbie, I get what you mean now… I’ll take that apart next then. Cheers!
