NBFL Speed Sensor VSS input to aftermarket head unit

So I plan to install an Kenwood 8019 DABS headunit into my Mk2.5.

The unit has an input speed sensor cable which is required to be connected to VSS pulse harness.

Question is which cable can I connect to and where is it? I presume the standard head unit connector does not have it but I guess I might be able to pick it up around the back of dashboard.

Any help is much appreciated

That is a available to the speedometer. If that info is in the format required by your head unit we do not know.

This is all from memory as the car is now long gone.

I fitted a Alpine GPS, did everything except the washing up, head unit to my Montana 2.5. I recall I took the speed sensor wire from the rear of the instrument cluster, and it was white with a purple stripe.

I subsequently pulled the head unit to fit in my newly acquired MK1. This had no speed signal wire. So when I lost GPS ( going through a tunnel ) the GPS started "recalculating route ". Quite annoying…so find the right wire lol

Later NB had a VSS wire at audio unit plug for factory Nav. What’s 6th from last or last 6 digits of your VIN?

My 6th from last digit is a 4 on the VIN. Fingers that I already have VSS at the audio plug, it would save pulling the dashboard apart!

Should be a Green/Red wire on the bottom row of the audio unit connecter with a Yellow/Blue and a Grey/Red wire either side of it.

Thanks, that will make it so much easier. The plan is to fit it this weekend, despite the rain looks like I will have to do it in the car port, and so a lack of natural light will be the enemy. I will let you know how I get on. I appreciate the feedback.
