Here’s mine…also size 1:43. It has changeable hard-top/soft top or open top. I change it with the season! I’m currently awaiting the new ND model, same size. I’m in the process of collecting 1:43 scale models of all the ‘interesting’ cars I’ve owned over the years. Currently on the lookout for a mk2 Ford Fiesta XR2 at reasonable price !
I’ve got 1:43 models of all my old cars with the exception of my current Mustang and my work Hilux.
I’ve got, Renault 18 Estate, Ford Mondeo estate, Vauxhall Vectra Estate, Peugeot 406 estate, Citroen C Crosser, Mitsubishi Outlander, Ford Granada Coupe, Mini 1275 GT, BT Transits, MK 2, 3 and 4.plus around 400 other die cast cars trucks and vans!
Needing more display space, need an extension to the house!
Here is ours …
It would be great if somebody could compile a definitive list of diecast models of MX5 categorised by Mk and colours available
To kick the list off…
Lynette’s 1:43 model of the 2013 NC, (with California plates) is by PCT collectibles Industry ltd and is part of their triple 9 Premium collection, I found it on line through a german model dealer. I don’t think it’s available in the UK.
Strangely enough I have one of those and in the same untouched original condition. Just waiting for the long winter evenings…
I plan to paint the body shell etc of mine to match the colours of my MX5, but have some concern about whether the rattle can paint will dissolve the delicate plastics. I still remember a paint disaster back in my youth when I was building OO scale kits for my trains, my Dad found some paint in the right colour but it was a cellulose paint and the acetone in it ate the model.
The spray paint is thin enough not to hide fine details, much better than the usual brush-on stuff from Humbrol etc. But I’ve not yet found time (or rather plucked up enough courage) to test it on a surplus bit of support frame.
You can get spray paint specifically for plastic model kits, I used to use Humbrol sprays, they are still going, but they won’t have specific car paint colours.
They may do a primer which would work to seal the plastic…
Thanks for the hint.
I had a look at their video showing the spray primer and how fine it is allowing all the detail to still be visible.

I notice it is acrylic, and the car paint has to be compatible with acrylic, so this looks very promising.
Glad to be of help, I used to build a lot of plastic kits (mainly trucks) when I was young, free and single, completed model kits wouldn’t last 5 minutes now in our madhouse, that’s one of the drawbacks of kids and dogs…
