Just bought an '07 NC and the casing on the door mirror is damaged, not the colour coded part, just the black bit around the glass. I’ve bought a secondhand mirror from the local breakers which is complete and all good, except of course it’s the wrong colour.
Is it possible to change the colour coded piece over, or alternatively just the black piece. I’m hoping I don’t need to get the mirror colour coded to match!
If its just the rim, how about a bit of chrome trim?
Just bling I’d rather not have on my car, but thanks for the suggestion. I prefer the stock look.
The cap is designed to pop off in a slight impact to the mirror, so a good tap with your hand should pop it off the casing. Works on most cars so mx5 should be the same.
Not tried it with my nc yet, but might see what happens.
Here’s what the mirror looks like when you take it to pieces. So once you’ve removed the glass the black bit just unclips, 5 minute job that doesn’t entail removing the mirror from the car. Maxda don’t sell the black bit separately but luckily I was able to use this part from the mirror I retrieved from the breakers
