- My model of MX-5 is: MX5 Sport Tech Dec 2011
- I’m based near: St Albans
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: _Replacement OSF fog lamp lens
The front offside fog lamp lens on my 61-reg Sport Tech RC has shattered. I have given my VIN number to a supplier and they tell me that the unit for my car is the one for 2005-2008 cars, four years or more earlier than my car. Has anyone else had a similar issue? I feel uncomfortable ordering a part for an older car but the reputable supplier says it will be the correct part.
@Onedrew
I have a spare set brand new, they have the part numbers
MZ012-4L and MZ012-4R
any way you can check your set.

Sorry to make contact again, the removal of the lamps is fairly easy, as they are just plug and play, just the removal of the wheel arch cover to see and remove the lamps.although this video is for a Mk3, the principal is the same…

Hi John
Could you confirm the model yours are for? Your picture seems to be of the earlier model but I cannot be sure. Here’s a pic of mine.
On my nearside lens, below the the CCC marking is the code AO45048. A neighbour’s NC 3.75 lens has the code 1090023 below the CCC marking and there is a shroud covering the tip of their bulb.
Appreciate your help here.
“MX5parts” list different units for the Mk3, Mk3.5 & Mk3.75 so it does seem that the part for a Mk3 probably won’t fit a Mk3.5.
Those sold by MX5parts for the Mk3.5 are slightly different to the items on my car (also a Mk3.5) in that the MX5parts ones have the shroud over the bulb; mine are identical to yours Onedrew i.e. no shroud. I think the MX5parts ones are those sold by Mazda as an aftermarket accessory which could explain why they’re slightly different to the factory fitted ones on my car & your car.
A045048 is shown on both of my foglamp glasses.

Thanks for this. It is the very helpful Mark at MX5 Parts who tells me that I should order the 2005-2008 unit for my 2011 car. He does seem certain of this, based on my VIN number. This is reinforced by a review within the 2005-2008 listing for the part from Ricardas Simkus, a happy mk3.5 Sport Tech owner. I will ask Mark if the AO45048 on the glass is useful.
There are two pictures of the Mk3 part on the site. Are these identical to yours, by any happy chance?

Here are the pics of the 2005-2008 unit for reference

@Onedrew
Since posting, they have now been sold…
I’d be inclined to order from mx5parts then, on the understanding that they’ll accept the items back & provide a full refund if they’re the wrong lamps?
I am very slow on the uptake: I didn’t realise they were for sale!
Yes, I think that’s right. I have asked Mazda dealership to quote to supply and fit, so I’ll wait for that result and take it from there if no further info comes thru from this forum.
Dealer £234,05 inc VAT to supply & fit
