Whilst servicing the brakes on my new-to-me NC 3.75 the other day I discovered that all the shocks (original Bilsteins) were showing signs of oil misting. They’ve done 90k miles and are definitely past their best. I’m trying to avoid going down the same coilover rabbit hole that I fell into with my NA (I ended up with Ohlins) so I’m considering just replacing them with the factory Bilsteins from mx5parts (or the dealer if cheaper), rather than upgrading to something better (I’m rather liking the look of Goodwin Racing’s Koni/Progress setup). I’m fine with the standard ride height, and happy to keep the standard springs. At the same price as the Bilsteins, there is also the Koni Sport yellows. I know the Meisters are similar price, but they’re not on my list for various reasons. Not sure what to do, are the Koni yellows a better bet than the Bilsteins? The car is a tourer and will never see a track. Been there, done that with the NA. Any thoughts?

In a similar situation, I opted to upgrade to the Bilstein B6 dampers (rather than the B4 standard). This gives a better-damped setup which is excellent for fast B-road use. Everything else is bog-standard. Got them from Demon Tweeks in one of their sales for much less than the standard dampers.
If you’re anywhere near North Yorkshire and want a demo, give me a shout!
Thanks, I appreciate your offer of a demo but I’m in Bristol. Those B6 Bilsteins seem like another option with standard springs, so thanks for that.
I have some ohlins that have done about a 600 miles that i will be selling soon
