- My model of MX-5 is: __NC
- I’m based near: __Harrogate, England
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: ABS sensor removal
Any more information than that?
If you can find th Mellens Workshop Manual on the web you need the folder" Anti Lock Brakes" which has all the info on the ABS system plus Wheel Sensor removal. There is not a great amount of detail so I would assume its a pretty straightforward job - except of course the rusty seized fixings which go with these cars.
I’ve tried looking for that Mellens manuall online a few times, although I did have it saved once (now missing) it appears not available these days, unless of course I’m not looking hard enough.
Thought a link came up a week or so ago on this Forum? It seems to come and go so when it is available I would strongly recommend downloading the lot onto a local drive, I have it all saved for a 2006-7 but I can’t find a way to share it on the Forum. Any suggestions?
Perfect thank you👍
That’s what had saved but since changing phones and the Google drive going a bit pear shape it’s lost stuff including photos and PDF’s, not all but a fair few.
I’ve got photos backed up on another drive so they’re safe just can’t find this Mellens manual. Now I’ve got it again.
No problem!. For others it really is worth copying the whole lot of files to a local drive or a dedicated memory stick because these links often stop working just as you need the info. What I do is to print off the pages I need for a job and take them with me to the car. That way I have all the assembly instructions and torque values available on the spot then just dispose of the oil stained sheets once the job is over. If you have a spare tablet or lap top think about storing the files there then you can take the device to the car for reference as needed.
To get back to the OP topic, its a pig of a job.
No amount of reading up or research will help or to that matter rusty release or penetrating fluid.
Its 1/2" SS sleeve mounted in an aluminium hub and it either easies out like a whisper or it needs machining out with a drill.
There’s very little leverage and nothing to pull on, it is usually destroyed on removal or you sit where wondering what all the fuss was about.
