NC antifreeze replacement

  1. My model of MX-5 is: mk3 1.8
  2. I’m based near:Birmingham
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Coolant change

I can find plenty of info online re changing the coolant on the MK1/MK2 cars, but not the MK3. Can anyone point me to some info please? Thanks - Richard

What exactly do you want to know?
FL22 and dependent on age. End thread

Plenty on this forum, just search NC coolant change.

You can use Mazda FL22 pre-mixed or Ravenol HJC concentrate which is a direct equivalent for FL22. I believe that there is also a Ford equivalent.

Morning Richard, a good question and may help other folk who wish to be well informed on the matter. This might help you to get to grips with it.

Thanks Barrie, this is what I was looking for, how to do it - the links I followed when "Bing"ing came up with titles about replacing for the mark 3, but I got fed up of them showing the MK1 and MK2 instead! So there is a drain plug by the look of it. (The forum’s info pages again have the MK1 and 2 but not the MK3) I have a supply of FL22 which is what I will be using.

There is a drain plug. I did mine on my drive with no issues.

Simple enough job. Only but I got wrong was the initial burping process. But luckily the car burped itself!!
