NC BBR Full Stainless Exhaust with GT Back-box Sound (+ a film of you & your car?!)

Hi all, I’ve put together a video showing the sound of the full BBR stainless exhaust on my 2.0 NC2, with catted manifold and the GT back-box here:

Also, in case anyone is interested, I’m doing a series of ‘owner stories’ videos, the first example of which is here:

It would be great to have an NA, NB or ND make an appearance, so please give me a shout if you might be interested (or just subscribe if you’d like to see the next in the series!).

Thanks :+1:

Thanks very much George, your videos actually tipped me over the edge in going for the whole system. Glad I did, I’d spent far too long messing about with just the backbox.

Nice 2500 Estate. My Dad had a 2500S Estate Auto, in the same Russet Brown though I think his was 76 (R) by which time deckchair striped seats were de riguer at BL.
It was a wonderful car, the SD1 that replaced his was nothing like the same quality or environment.
Truly it was the last gentleman’s sporting estate*. There was no other similar vehicle on the market when he traded it in at a good price; so much so the next owner (an acquaintance) had to pay well over the original new list price for a well-used (but well looked after) 3 year old car with a highish mileage!

*Volvos weren’t and BMW took till the 80s to spot the market for their “Touring”

Yes it was a bit of a trend setter (eventually). Had a lovely smooth ride & will be properly sorted when Mike replaces the bushes. The auto was probably even smoother, but to be fair the overdrive in this one worked a treat.
Apparently the original seats were very plush, & almost met in the middle (the modern seats fitted allowed Mike to add a cup holder in between).

Nice triumph, police used them in saloon form
Hated that colour tho when I was selling cars that was the worse colour to have marinas allegros minis ect
But you know now I wouldn’t mind that,so fed up with all the grays, blacks, dull blues, infact there isn’t many decent bright colours now even the reds are dull
Says me with a black 5 lol
Back to the triumph I had a Tr5 and a Tr6 and loved the overdrive effectively 7 gears ! A real pain to rebuild the gearbox tho! taking the overdrive unit off you needed four hands lol

I have the BBR full exhaust with catted manifold but the Sport back box, in my NC2, happy to do a video of that for you or have you video it if you want it.

I actually tried to find videos of it before I got it because of the noise level warnings they give about having the sport back box with the rest of the exhaust instead of the GT one and I couldn’t find any videos and just went for it. Ended up loving the sound and even had a few people wanting to hear it at the national rally and enjoying it too.

I’ve got the GT box with the full BBR exhaust and uncatted manifold. It does sound good. Glad u like the sport box lance I wasn’t that brave! The GT box is more than loud enough for my liking. I’d agree with Dugwash that at motorway speeds there is some low frequency noise. We don’t mind it but it could be a bit too much for some people. Tip for anyone doing this. If your old back box isn’t high mileage don’t let BBR keep it! I got mine back along with the Mazda sport tops that came with the Kuro and 25th editions and sold them on to a club member.

I think I could also live with the brown, it fits & actually looked great under the sun.
Mike loves the overdrive but luckily hasn’t had to do much to the gearbox, yet…!

Ah yes very brave Lance1! It would be great to do something on that, I’ll send a DM.

Yes, definitely should have kept my old box! But to be fair to BBR, they’re going to let me pick one up & just pay for the tailpipes soon :+1:

Sounds lovely and wish mine sounded the same. Jealous

Thanks SCB501, the manifold seems to be the key to getting a more satisfying sound, even with the standard centre/back sections.

Maybe I will look at getting a new manifold then. Love to get new stainless system but budget is a bit tight. Yours sounds really good though. Great bit of film. Simon.

Thanks Simon, glad you liked it. I think there’s a review of the Super 200 which just has the manifold (& the rest standard) on JayEmm’s YouTube channel, seems to have a similar sound to mine.
