- My model of MX-5 is: NC
- I’m based near: Christchurch
- I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: Chrome fuel cap
Hi, I have acquired a chrome fuel cap for my mk3, can anyone post a picture of the inside of the cap as it only came stripped down with 2 Allen bolts (12mm/6mm)
Many thanks in advance.
Sounds about right.
They fit to the position as the OEM painted lid (2 X bolts) The part where the lid catches to close you use the original nut over the bracket to secure.
Mines the original Mazda lid.
Pictures are a bit naff, car is in the garage so limited space to get proper pics. First pic shows the bolts just under the wing can’t get the camera in there.
Hi Mick,
I take it the longer bolts hold the ring to the brackets and the short bolts in the spare holes , can you remember if there are any sealing washers or spring washers on the bolts ? Also on release does the flap open fully os just unlatch??

I’m not sure what you have, maybe a picture would help.
Destructions below for my lid. It’s as simple as removing the original lid and replacing with the chrome one.
I guess you have some vital bolts missing.
The lid just springs up around an inch when the catch is released, see pic.
Hi Mick,
The fuel flap only came with a 12mm and a 6mm ally Allen bolt. I have replaced these with stainless Allen bolts, but now I have assembled the fuel flap it is self explanatory
Glynn…
Can I ask where you obtained the chrome cap please ??
All good then.
Hi Mick ,
Many thanks for your help and time
