NC drivers and passenger window scratches

I don’t know if this is a common issue but my 2.0 nc1 pfht has scratches on both drivers and passenger windows.
Every time you have the windows go up or down you can hear some grit scratching the glass.

I did try and clean the channel where the window goes into the door but not had any luck, guessing door car off is the next option.

I also find the PFHT roof angle at the sides is pretty bad, all the ■■■■ from the roof will land on the side windows, there’s no channel for it, so maybe it’s that.

My drivers window has a full lenght scratch approx 8" from windscreen position back over.

I thought I had caused it when I removed door card and inner steel plate to soundproof door skin.

Google advises warm water and toothpaste to buff out ?

I think if the scratch is so deep its done for. You can get glass polish for buffers, would be 100 times quicker than toothpaste and give you a better job.

Maybe it’s just old weather seals/door trim letting grit fall down beyond the rubbers.
My mark is in a very similar place but the drivers one isn’t bad, it’s the passenger one that is.

Ime if you can feel the scratch/es with the end of your fingernail there’s absolutely no chance of buffing them out, whatever method and compound is used. It’s toughened glass, which I’m told doesn’t help.

Mine also a NC1 PRHT has the exact same issue. Tried all sorts to try and polish out. Nothing worked. Think the only solution would be new glass. I’ll live with it. :grimacing:

Mines same too, was wondering if tinting would hide them or the opposite.

I’ve seen lots, it does seem to be a very common problem.
It was probably designed in by the same guy that did the undersealing.

And the clutch biting point and the scuttle insert gaskets and the access to the top of the drain tubes
