NC Fuel tank capacity and mpg 2.0 Sport

Im not sure if im in the right place but here goes, can anyone confirm the fuel tank capacity the handbook says 50L but that doesnt seem right as i filled up from empty (reserve light had been on for about 10 miles) and just about managed to get 40L in.

In addition what is the range available when the fuel light comes on, the handbook just says to refill but their must be some margin.

Finally what sort of real world mpg can i expect on my commute of 23 miles with 2miles of quiet country lane to the motorway 18 or so miles on the motorway followed by a couple of miles of urban dual carriageway. I seemed to recall getting around 38mpg out of my original MX5 a 1.8 NA about 6 or 7 years ago on the same journey.

Sorry for all of the questions but i have just come out of a boring but very ecconomical diesel saloon. I have wanted to get back behind the wheel of a 5 and accept that i will be putting more fuel in for the pleasure.

All the best Dave

Hi Dave, all sounds about right.I guess there is 10ltrs left when fuel light shows. I average around 36mpg mixed motoring, between 350 & 400 miles per tank.

Reg.

Thanks Reg.

My 2006 2.0 PRHT is averageing 32.0 over 8908 miles with the best being 42.1 which was a steady 250 mile run and the worst being 26.1. I’m quite happy with that!

I’ve been using the fuelly mobile app on my phone - www.fuelly.com which is quite good… as per my signature!

I ,ight try that Nick.  I keep records of fuel use - by writing on the receipt and transferring to a spreadsheet. I have averaged 35.8 since May, but it has dropped over winter - before winter was more like 36mpg.

Can I put my existing records into the fuelly system?

I presume if you just enter the data that you have in the “fuel up” part of the site then although it will show you have filled up 30 times and done 10000 miles in one day but hey ho!
