NC hardtop rear panel material

  1. My model of MX-5 is: NC foldable hardtop
  2. I’m based near: Southampton
  3. I’m looking for technical help on: I am trying to find out what material is used to manufacture the panel that sits between the electric rear screen and the boot lid. It folds away as part of the rest of the roof.

I think you’ll find that it’s a composite construction, along with the roof.

Thanks Wilier1, that’s what I was thinking. I have what I thought was a small paint chip, once I started to clean it to apply touch-up I found it quite deep and non-metallic. :+1:

I have this on my 2010 PRHT as well and my research found that it is a composite material. Apparently (so I’m told by others) it’s caused by moisture between the layers which freeze in cold weather and cause what looks like small paint chips. I touched them up last year but I’ve noticed them reappearing this winter.

Is this the same sort of thing as was mentioned in a post last year?
