I have obtained seats and door cards from a later model NC. The seats have already been installed. Sadly, when I obtained them, the door cards were missing the front half of the door handle / pull as shown in photo.
‘How expensive could they be?’ as Clarkson might say. Very, it turns out - if Mazda UK had any in stock, which they don’t.
I’ve managed to secure the internal cards that I also needed to allow for the change in cup holder position.
Understandably, no one is going to want to just sell the door pull rather than the whole card. At the same time, buying a pair of door cards just to use the handle seems a tad wasteful.
It struck me that the NC1 handle, whilst made differently, might fit the newer cards. Problem being, I’m loathe to start taking it all apart to learn they don’t.
I hope this has all made sense so far. My question is, does anyone have knowledge as to whether these handles are interchangeable?
These were the door pulls I mentioned at the weekend mate. Pricey as a “make do” option though, so I would only get them if they were specifically what you wanted.
Thanks for the info, mate. As you say, given they looked to be priced as singles, when you add on the blank for the other ‘handle hole’, so to speak, I would probably prefer the correct parts - which would cost less from Mazda!
Thanks for this. In one way it’s confusing as both appear to be the same diagram - NC2 style. On a positive, it made me look again at the existing door handle. I had always thought it was a one piece moulding but it looks to be two halves. Now I need to work out how to get the top cap off. A utube video made it look very easy - but it’s not budging!
That is an option, but I wanted to avoid taking the door card off just for that, on the assumption that one or more of the door clips would break - especially as the car is 16 years old now. Would rather be in a position to do it all in one hit - so to speak. I normally end up with bits left over with such jobs!
