NC ITBS / CAMS options & Cost Comparison

Hey All

So im looking at going down the route of ITBS and CAMS for the NC1 end of march early April (what else are you gonna spend your bonus on right!?) ; I’ve had a quote from BBR for the super 225 inc fitting less the 4-1 manifold (already got that) of £5000 all inclusive of VAT. I was looking into other options as im sure BBR is not the be all and end all of solutions!

Now i’ve seen that Dan ST engineering do the full ITB kit including the cable conversion kit for £1056 and the cams for £660 inc VAT, so total - £1700 ish… now what im unsure on would be the costs to fit and also tune the stock ECU? Im based in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire - so if anyone has any idea or indication as to the costs for this or who might be able to do it or if there’s anything else i need to know then id be much obliged!

ill look them up - but ideally something closer to Buckinghamshire - Sheffield is prob 3-4 hours away

The Drive Home would be more fun !

I believe ST Engineering’s kit requires an aftermarket ECU as well.

I think BBR have been taking the ■■■■ in recent times with their costings.

so the BBR KIT does not require an aftermarket ECU - they map your stock ECU, so im assuming the same would be done with the Dan ST engineering kit

this is very true! Ive emailed them for a quote…

I got bbr to quote me up for a turbo conversion supply only, and they were pricey indeed when you consider how much the components would cost

Problem is no one else offers bespoke Turbo or ITB kits of the shelf other than BBR… and although you may save a few quid by going for a one of kit put together by yourself is it really worth the saving in the long run ???

The NC platform isn’t like the NA and NB where’s there’s lots of options out there unfortunately…

i mean yes and no - i shopped around for the Cams / fitting and Mapping and BBR were actually the cheapest at £1500, but then i feel like i can probably get the ITBS/CAMS done elsewhere by sourcing the parts etc cheaper - but then i suppose you have peace of mind knowing that they’re reputable and for some reason when selling your car with BBR mods it tends to be a little more trusted etc (not that im selling it ever lol)
There is a guy on here somewhere from ‘performance link’ - they’ll offer all the same services as well i believe - its worth looking them up!

DAN St Engineering does supply and fit also…

Very interested in having the cams done. Would love the ITBs, maybe next year
Does the BBR quote (£1500) include VAT?

YUp it was 1500 all in

I’ve used GB Autotech (https://www.gbautotech.co.uk/) based on Luton for some performance upgrades and they will do pretty bespoke mapping too which has been fantastic for me.

Just checking that DAN do the whole job, supply ITBs and fit & tune as their website suggest parts only?

yep he does - let me know if you get a price

i guess the other question is for people out there looking at spending the best part of 5-6K on going down the super 225 route is… how much would it be for a good K20 engine swap with a set of cams headers, tune etc> surely that must be putting out over 220 with those additions…

As far as I’m aware, cams job on an NC work best at the upper end of the rev range and came be a bit lumpy…say when you nip to Tesco for a pint of milk ???

You could just do this, get more power and a lot cheaper. Love mine.
