I need some assistance, just purchased a new Front bumper mesh grill from ZUN products. I have a front grille with a chrome surround factory fitted (Niseko), on attempting the new mesh grille installation (told very simple) I realised the chrome surround must be removed, there lies the question!
Can anyone advise on the simplest way to remove this surround, I first tackled the number plate and stopped there, no idea how to take this off without brute force, not my way!
Looking into other forums I found a method of removing the front bumper…very good, however there looks like two screws which need to be removed first…are they behind the number plate !
If it’s not screwed on it has to be glued on, mines screwed on so the next bit of advice I’ll leave for you to decide , either use brute force or try some fishing line or similar to ‘cut’ the plate off. Otherwise bumper removal is fairly straightforward , it’s easier with the weight off the wheels as you need access to the liners which requires wheel movement.
‘Please note: These will not fit Launch edition or Niseko models with the chrome trim around the grille mouth. Also, only vehicles with a standard UK sized number plate as they have been designed to fit around them for ease of fitting.’
Appreciate your confirmation, this has saved me a lot of work, tonight I was planning removing the bumper!
Now I have very a cheap and in perfect condition NC grille for sale!
Any advise on suspension? I am looking into Eibach springs although WARNED watch the weight issue with a hardtop version, Mazda wont fit them, looking at the wheel arch gap to tire, I don’t believe I will have that problem! so may purchase and fit myself then a professional geometry check!
Contacted ZUN Sport, very helpful and agreed to take back the grille at full refund, they will look into updating their site where they are specific to grille vs MX5 models.
Unfortunately I didn’t get what I wanted, but lesson learned will be asking you folk first!
