NC oil filter dimensions

  1. My model of MX-5 is: __NC3 25th anniversary
  2. I’m based near: __Orpington
  3. I’m looking for technical help or recommendations on: __oil filter dimensions

Decided to do an intermediate oil and filter change. Got 2 oil filters, they look like this

However when it came to change it, I realised that my replacement filter is half the length of the one on the car. It should have been fitted by a Mazda dealer last August.
Decided to play it safe and leave the old filter in place until I’ve checked what is going on.

Are there short and long versions of the oil filter?

Nowhere in that link does it say that filter fits an NC.
All NC models take the same oil filter, as below…

That filter is the wrong one.

You need this one, which is what I use and as supplied by Mazda.

Mine says B6Y1-14-302A

Not so sure of that to be honest.
Again, as Mick stated above no mention of the MK 3 .

Top right ish of the listing

Merely an observation

Nope.
As stated by the poster that one is the wrong size.

I inputted my NC model on to that eBay listing, computer says no!

It definitely looks shorter than any filters I’ve changed on an NC and that is many over 9 years.

I’ve learned never to trust eBay sellers unless you’ve dealt with them with good results in the past. Always cross reference parts and numbers with a leading supplier or just use them in the first place.

I’ve got yet another different one, LF10-14-302A-9B supplied by MX5 Parts, they list it as the genuine Mazda filter for all MK3, 3.5 and 3.75 models.

My understanding is that one has been superseded by the one I gave above.
That number I used a few years ago now.
Just an opinion check with your local Mazda dealer and see what part number they give you.
Mine and others gave me the number in my post. :+1:

OR
They maybe both correct as one is Thailand and the other is Korea. :man_shrugging:

Just buy from someone you can trust. Your oil and your filter are key. I’m for Mazda and MX5parts. They may try to rip you off elsewhere but you will get the genuine item where it counts.
