NC oil filter relocation?

Hello all, merry Christmas!

As above basically… Changing the oil on my lowered NC is a massive pain in the ■■■■, its also really messy because of its location within the subframe - those of you with the same car will understand I’m sure!

I note there are quite a few options for relocating the oil filter on earlier models, but is anyone aware of a tried and tested way to do the same in the MK3?

Thanks!

Looking at the oil filter housing - It should be fairly easy to add a universal oil filter relocation kit.
( Adaptor to replace filter + braided hoses + new oil filter bracket )

Yeah I thought the same thing, but I wouldn’t know where to start in terms of making sure I get the right one, like the size of the mounting point?

For the race cars we start with an oil filter ( that gives you the seal diameter and the mounting thread size )
Once you find an adaptor and a replacement filter housing that takes that filter - you find a convenient location for the new bracket and join the pair together with the supplied hose.

NOTE - the NC 2.0 motor is basically a FORD duratec motor so there should be lots of aftermarket bits around

A common misconception, but the Duratech is actually borrowed from Mazda.

Wasn’t meant to sound like it was a Ford motor - just that the duratec is very well catered for in the aftermarket world.

Yeah this is it though, I can’t seem to find an adapter that looks right at all, and definitely none that are specifically named as being for the specified car… There’s plenty around for the MK1 and 2 though!

Have a look for Ford Fiesta 2.0 150 ST
Basically the same motor.

8 concrete blocks and a good jack.
2 under each wheel and plenty of room and safe as houses.
Keeps it all level and able to run and check for leaks before finishing the job.
Do it every year.
Perhaps only once a year and job done.
Just an opinion. :+1::slightly_smiling_face:

This oil cooler kit includes filer relocation:

This is the trick part that you needL

After that I think you need a bunch of generic parts

$799!?!! :scream::scream:

Not a chance!

The pickup up plate is $140. I suspect you are looking at $300 in hardware, plus contriving how to put it .

That doesn’t relocate the filter though… Its purely a cooler kit and the filter affixes as normal.

You could possibly use one of these: https://www.burtonpower.com/catalogsearch/result/?q=remote+oil+filter+duratec

With one of these: Oil Cooler Take Offs (scroll down to H)

Connected to one of these: Remote Filter Heads with suitable hoses, and on the way, maybe an oil cooler if you’re using the car on a track.
