I have a 2007 NC, 2.0 Sport. I have owned the car for 12 months and have been gradually sorting all the foibles detailed on this forum by you lovely people and also carrying out some modifications to get the car exactly as I want it.
My latest project is the Oil Pressure and Coolant gauging/warning systems. Under my single Din head unit in the centre console I am fitting true Oil Pressure and Coolant Temp gauges along with normal warning lights for under pressure/over temp/fan running.
I also wanted something on the dash in my eyeline to warn me something was amiss and I believe I have a great solution.
My (pretend) oil pressure gauge will now be backlit red on low pressure and the (pretend) Coolant Temperature gauge will now be backlit red on over temperature. Works massively well when the cockpit is dark with lights on/off. In daylight they do indicate OK but not quite so strikingly.
The dash still looks completely standard. Here are some pics:
Cool alternative to the Rotarytronics kit - I considered doing something like this but that kit is too damn cool looking!
Yes, I fully understand how the the full on cool tech solution is really attractive, but I will have something I can feel safe with, push my car to the limit and see what is really going on for around £100.
I am a military aircraft man and simple in your face information is all I need.
I would love to meet someone who has successfully installed the Rotarytronics kit. The installation pdf is far more complicated than any aircraft modification tech instructions I came across in the RAF…
If you go for it write it up on here, it would be good to see how it was to install.
Totally get you, for a budget track or modded road car car this is an awesome solution. If you haven’t checked recently, the rotarytronics V2 kit has been released and looks even better, with a PNP option and better screen.
I do think it’d be nice to have the stock OP gauge read temp too though and have no screen to make it look stock (I have just bought TWO screens for the car’s music & GPS situation so I might be BSing here lol).
I’ll definitely add it to my PH thread and maybe here too - lots of DIY I’d like to talk about and no time to double post! Or even single post my recent stuff.
Nice solution, definitely creative and I don’t think I’ve ever seen this before.
