NC Plastic sill covers. How do i get them off

I am struggling to get the Plastic sill covers off my NC . I want to do some rustproofing .Does anybody have any ideas???

Have a look on the Mellens website for the manuals for the NC.  There are diagrams and instructions.

Be prepared for some clips to break in the cold weather.  These are expensive.

If you do break any clips, post an image on here, we sell trim clips for pennies.

We also have an assorted box specific to mazda.

Alternatively, I decided to puchase a cheap USB endoscope and take a look without disturbing anything.

this may give you an indication of whats under the cill covers and if you see a need to remove them … also agree you should check the cost of the clips before removing them. It wasn’t my car so I can’t offer any advice on removal.

I managed to knock mine clean off last week on a curb!! I know, I know??

Where are you? I’m in Wakefield and want to ensure I have all the right clips before attempting to push the thing back on.

Regards

Neil

If you have the clips in your hand take a look at them on our web site

https://www.beal.org.uk/automotive/trim-clips.html

See if you can identify the correct clip.

I see from the images posted earlier, some of them look like the typical Ford door card clip

https://www.beal.org.uk/automotive/trim-clips/trim-clips-panel-clips-vw/ford.html

We are in Tingley if you can find anything.

We are introducing a whole new range of clips, but these won’t be here for some time yet.

I’m sure Keats will be able to help on this for you.

I found these when doing my sills, hope it shows up I’ve had to copy and paste on my phone.

The actual clips are these for the top clip points, to replace all both sides I ordered 20  https://www.vehicleclips.co.uk/mazda-side-moulding-side-skirts-bump-strip-plastic-trim-clips-fasteners.html

The lower clips (larger size) are these although I found I didn’t break any of these so not needed https://www.vehicleclips.co.uk/plastic-trim-clips-for-mazda-sill-moulding-rocker-cover-trim-clips.html

A handy resource is this site http://www.mellens.net/mazda/Mazda-Miata-2006-2007/exterior_trim.pdf page 30-31 down shows the clip points A & C clips are the same size, 10 per side, B clips 5 per side
I found the front C clip a pig to release, once out the rest should pop out as you work along the top clips as per the diagram in the link above, once the top clips are released the bottom of the skirt will slide off rear wards from the lower clips.

Following the links posted by Mick.

I still beleive that the white one is the typical ford door card clip, only ours doesn’t have the foam gasket.

Coinicidentally, I just photographed that particular clip (with the gasket) yesterday for inclusion in to next years catalogue.

the grey one we don’t carry, I also checked the 2 specific mazda kit boxes, and it’s not in there either.

I am expecting about another 50 clips in the coming days, so fingers crossed it might be in the next batch of photos.

I had some spare door card clips saved from when I changed over the cards on the MK3, i can confirm they are the same clips that are required for the sill covers the small round ones (10 per side)

The only difference with those the originals were black purchased ones white. Is that significant with the make up of the plastic or just the colour, i don’t know?

Niel, you might be in luck with the one with the gasket.

I recieved a number of samples last week, one of which appears to be the same clip, with the gasket, only it’s yellow and not white.

As the clip is hidden, i guess it’s unlikely to make any difference.

I’ve 8 of them.

If they are any use to you and you want to call in on passing, or failing that I can hide them in the street for you to pickup over the weekend, then your’e welcome to them

Thanks, and thanks to all who’ve responded.

I’m off work next week, so will call in one day and see you. I bought a pack online, not sure which of the 2 they are. But I’ll call in before I buy anything else.

Cheers

Neil
